  • Well….it was an interesting morning. Keith and I had our first major accident with a guest on the beach. A lovely lady tripped at the Boneyard and broke her ankle. :(.

    • Oh Nooo…. I am so sorry to hear this! Praying for you over your remaining workshops, and for your guest as well!

    • So sorry to hear of the accident!

    • Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear this. ๐Ÿ™

    • Ohhh, that is such bad news!! I sure hope she turns out okay and recovers quickly!! Certainly, not to take anything away from her, but I do recall a near miss awhile back. Am so happy I wasn’t the first tho. That would be a list I definitely would NOT want to be on. Praying for your guest!!

  • Good morning from the waters off the shore of Charleston!

  • We arenโ€™t tired yet….but wait until tomorrow mornings 2:30 wake up call. Boo.

  • Briley Update:

Itโ€™s the first full day and itโ€™s been going great! Sunrise was out at Folly and gosh did it blow up! It was so beautiful! We are heading up to the private plantation now. Thereโ€™s some interesting group dynamics but everyone is super awesome. And get this – they are all new folks. No VIPโ€™s with the exception of Kathlee…[Read more]

  • Ok y’all. It’s that time of year again……Azalea season in Charleston that kicks off our busiest time of year. Today we start the CHS Workshop (1 of 3). Say a prayer for us. lol. We’ll be away from SYS for the most part over the weekend, but back in here on Tuesday.

    • Have so much fun!

    • I was thinking about you earlier today when I realized this was your first weekend of the Charleston workshops. Have fun! Teach those peeps to back up their pics so they don’t end up like me and lose all the memories of my first workshop…well, photo memories. Guess I’ll have to join you again some day. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I will be in Folly next week!!!! Can not wait!!!!- the hubby and I have not been for more than two days at the beach together in 34 years – all our vacations have been the children, grandchildren or friends. I might be calling someone about Wednesday!!!

    • Yay!! Excited and happy for you! I know it’s a busy season for ya, but my-oh-my…. the impact you have on others. You share of yourselves so beautifully! Happy friend-making season!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • @tiffanyreedbriley I’m looking for some advice on handling completed pictures. Lightroom allows exporting in multiple sizes, formats, etc. But the end use of the image determines many of the elements (especially size). How do you handle needing multiple sizes for the same image? Some options I’ve come up with are by:
    – Publication use (Web,…[Read more]

    • Hey Ira! You’re asking a great question. Keith and I both have Portfolio folders that all the end images are saved in. For example, we have multiple businesses that will use the image and sometimes require different watermarks.

For example, my files look like this:

Portfolio – Personal Watermark (saved for FB, Web & SYS sizes)
      Portfolio -…[Read more]

      • I do similar to this. I have a folder for each shoot and in each I have a subfolder for PSD, High Res, Web ready and watermarked.

        • Understand and it makes sense. Thank you.
The next question is how to locate a given image. My primary filing system for my photography work (as opposed to my family photos) is by generic subject: animals, landscape, still life, etc. What are you using to find a given photo?

      • THANK THE LORD you are sharing this!!! Today, I was trying to figure out if I was making unnecessary work – NOPE, I even have made actions for my online gallery to share with my clients, an action for Facebook with my watermark – it is a lot of extra work and a whole bunch of files.

        • Mine are:
          Year – 2019
          Client/Event
          PS with layers
          Flatten jpg
Watermark in ps for social media
Gallery format – I use Shootproof to deliver a gallery to my clients

      • This sure is helpful! I should know better, but my storage system is one big sloppy mess. I know where things are, but it’s not systematically organized. I have some serious house-cleaning to do! Thanks for posting on this topic.

  • Hey y\’all! I made a boo boo. If you notice we\’re missing posts from today -that was my fault. I\’m actually working on a temporary site right now to revamp SYS and the changes caused the site to skip a beat. So sorry y\’all!

  • Hey all, @jborgueta really inspired me this morning when she mentioned the three boneyard pictures she posted and how those photographs represent a pivotal point in her journey, or a benchmark. Do you have a benchmark photograph that speaks to your photographic journey? If so, would you share it with us below?

    • ‘Solitude’ is one of my benchmark pictures. I captured this back in 2009, before I really understood about aperture, shutter speeds and manual. It was just a foggy day and I captured what I saw in my mind. This image would also be one of the 4 that I would submit to State, Regional and then the International Print Competition for the PPA and…[Read more]

      • A few years ago, I had felt as though I lost my passion for photography. In December of 2015, my husband told me to choose a friend a go on a girls weekend. I googled and googled places to go and came across Charleston Photography Tours. So I asked Addie to go with me. Keith picked us up at the crack of dawn or shortly after and went to Folley…[Read more]

    • Gosh, I have been thinking about my benchmark photo for several days now. I have enjoyed taking pictures, being involved in some art shows, and even received a certificate in photography from USF, yet I felt like I was dormant. It wasn’t until I spent a weekend in St Pete / Clearwater at the Tampa Bay Photoshoot Out, capturing images with Tiffany…[Read more]

  • Sometimes you just need to go to bed and the whole world works better. You’ll notice we lost a few posts because we had to climb into our time machine with SYS packed in our bags and go back to Sunday, but we’re up and running showing pictures now. However, we may pull the site down for some maintenance shortly to figure out why that happened…[Read more]

@tiffanyreedbriley and @keithbriley, is there a setting to allow for one to be notified when there is a new post in SYS?

    • @karolyn, not right now there isn’t, unless someone responds to you, then it should hit your email. Check your spam if you’re not getting those! ๐Ÿ™‚

      • I get the emails when someone replies. ๐Ÿ™‚ I would love to get notified when you and Keith post.

    • Thank you for encouraging us – it’s an assignment within an assignment – lol What about the membership for the magazine? Do you have to be a member?

      • No ma’am. No membership necessary and no fees to enter. SUPER SECRET TIP: DO NOT wait for the month to enter. We’ll be pulling well in advance. So if you wait for the month, you’ll be too late.

  • Y\’all. You guys with all your pictures have had me itching to process. And so tonight it\’s actually cold enough in Charleston for me to have a fire. My sweet husband is out freezing his bottom off doing a tour and the dogs and I are all snuggled in and watching Hallmark while I edit. I\’m calling this one Petal Perfect. Petal-Perfect

    • I really like how you changed the saturation for a lighter feel. I could see this image in a grand scale on someone’s wall.

      • Awww thanks Mandy! It’s funny how you’re satisfied with an image, and then post it and then keep looking and continually see things you’d change. lol
I appreciate that comment so much though!
